Strong take-up of West End’s Montague Project

West End’s Montague development has seen a huge take up of residential sales before centre even opens.

Montague in West End is proving to be a success even before it’s display centre fully opens to the public. The site will house five different towers, each possessing a name from Shakespeare’s famous Romeo & Juliet play.

The first tower in stage one of the development, which fronts Montague Road has already been 80% sold, with a strong take up of one bedroom units. The second tower which is 12 levels has been 35% sold. Residential sales figures like these are being seen across the city, a sign that the Brisbane market is beginning to return to pre-GFC absorption rates.

Montague is developed by Korean based Mirae Queensland and designed by Cottee Parker architects, with DTZ being the marketing agent. Although the one bedroom apartments are starting from $275,000, the quality of fittings and attention to detail Cottee Parker has put into each unit is superb.

While the idea of a laundry room is nothing new, this project shows off an ingenious way of creating more internal space by moving the laundry onto the balcony, tucked away in a space saving wall fixture.

South East Queensland is lucky enough to have perfect weather enabling laundry facilities to easily be moved outside. Rooftop gardens on most buildings will feature barbecue facilities with views of the CBD and surrounds. These simple ideas, are just a few of a series of cleverly designed features implemented in the overall design.

Transport wise, Brisbane’s City Glider, a frequent bus service running every 5-15 minutes stops nearby, while a new CityCycle bike station has been built opposite Montague. To complement these services, the Brisbane City Council has outlined future plans for a new City Cat terminal nearby in the latest South Brisbane Neighbourhood Plan.

There is also strong interest on the retail side, with a planned medium sized grocer as well as a possible bar and bakery to front Montague Road. Montague’s display centre will officially open to the public in October.

    West End, this is really going to be the place to live in the future, get in now brisbanites. Dont wait until a 1 bed costs you 750 thousand.

    Does anyone know what the current status of this project is. Most advertising material seems to have disappeared in to a muddy hole.
