CONSTRUCTION: Leighton Properties and Devine Limited have teamed up to build Brisbane’s newest office tower. The tower is to be called King George Central due to its close proximity to Brisbane’s newly redeveloped King George Square.

The developer of Brisbane’s 400 George St project will build the 150 meter high tower which will become Brisbane’s most healthy office building. In an Australian first, the heart foundation has given this tower its famous tick of approval.

The tower is designed to encourage people to walk up stairs by the use of open stairwells as opposed to closed fire escape stairwells. The tower has been reduced from its initial height of 39 floors (169m) to now just 29 floors.

It will have around 36,000 square meters of office space, a childcare centre and a gym. The previous 39 storey design was approved by the BCC meaning this adjusted submission will be approved soon. The tower is currently undergoing extensive excavation.
