Brisbane bistro Montrachet, is swapping its Paddington home for a new location on King Street, at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

The highly awarded restaurant, received two-hat rating by the Good Food Guide in 2016, is highly sought after in the Brisbane market and expected to draw a new crowd to the already flourishing food & lifestyle precinct.

The new incarnation of Montrachet will be located in a 240 square metre tenancy on the corner of King Street and Machinery Street offering double the number of seats, creative new dishes, and a walk-in cellar.

Brisbane Showgrounds Project Director Andrew Hay said this iconic bistro will add another layer to Brisbane’s newest retail high street.

“We are really looking forward to Montrachet bringing the history and atmosphere of their previous store into King Street, merging heritage with a modern approach – right down to the finer details of their design.

“We have carefully curated King Street’s food and beverage offering so that people can experience the best local and Australian retail & lifestyle operators,” he said.

Brasserie-style cooking will still stand at the forefront of Montrachet’s menu, welcoming guests of King Street to taste-test the restaurant’s iconic flavours – double baked soufflé with crab meat and gruyere cheese, fragrant seafood bouillabaisse and an award-winning Grand Marnier brulee with passionfruit curd, chocolate hazelnut praline mousse and strawberry sorbet.

While ties to its history will accompany Montrachet to King Street, new chapters lie ahead for the French bistro. Foodies will discover an all-new patisserie attached to the restaurant, offering takeaway baguettes at lunchtime and a decked-out pastry cabinet sure to incite cravings.
