A revised development application has been submitted by AMP Capital for the construction of a 13 storey commercial building for 6 Little Cribb St, Milton.

The original proposal consisted of a 12 storey commercial tower known as CDOP7 Milton. Whilst the overall bulk, scale and appearance remains generally consistent with the original approval, the new design has been modified to reflect contemporary design outcomes, in particular, the ‘New World City Design Guide – Buildings That Breathe’.

Designed by Hassell and Richard + Spence, the new development scheme is intended to appear as two distinct towers through the incorporation of planted recesses in the east and west facades (the “ravines”).

The planned Urban Common space attached to the development application has been reconfigured to better promote social interaction and activity within the development as well as more soft landscaping to provide an inviting and adaptable spaces.

There has been an overall reduction in Gross Floor Area, for both the retail and commercial aspects of the approval. Originally 32,092sqm, the revised scheme is now 29,870sqm which is a reduction of 2,222sqm.

Also included in the new design is a new laneway that links Cribb Street and Milton Lane, which will include hospitality and retail tenancies as a collective experience.

Smaller cafes are housed under a free-standing pavilion. The application states that the experience is an outdoor one, “capitalising on Brisbane’s subtropical climate”.

Despite the upgrade in subtropical design features, there remains no rooftop utilisation proposed in this development.
