A key chapter in the redevelopment of Hope Island’s waterfront has closed with the official completion of Athena Quays, a $170 million residential development delivered by Gold Coast-based Aniko Group.

Positioned within the evolving Hope Island canal precinct, Athena Quays brings 185 waterfront and parkfront apartments to market, including a mix of two- and three-bedroom layouts and a limited collection of top-floor Skyhomes. The project forms part of Aniko Group’s wider $500 million investment strategy across Hope Island, which has been steadily reshaping the area’s built form and residential offering over the past few years.

With practical completion now achieved, only two Skyhomes remain available for purchase — both three-bedroom residences overlooking the water, priced from $1.675 million.

“Athena Quays has been an important project for our team, and we are thrilled to see it come to life,” said George Mastrocostas, Managing Director of Aniko Group.

“Hope Island has long been a destination for those seeking a premium lifestyle, and this development reflects that demand by offering luxury waterfront living at an accessible price point.”

The residences at Athena Quays have been designed to maximise water views and indoor-outdoor living, with features including expansive balconies, open-plan layouts, designer kitchens with stainless steel appliances, and a neutral interior palette aimed at downsizers and lifestyle-oriented buyers.

The development also includes a suite of resort-style amenities: a large pool, landscaped gardens, private media rooms, a gymnasium, a business lounge, and multiple breakout areas for residents to work or entertain within the building.

Located just off Sickle Avenue, Athena Quays benefits from close proximity to the Hope Island Marketplace shopping centre, as well as quick access to Westfield Coomera, the M1 motorway, and several local golf courses including Links Hope Island and The Pines Sanctuary Cove. Natural recreation areas like South Stradbroke Island and Wave Break Island are also accessible by boat from nearby marinas.

Aniko Group notes that with limited land remaining for large-scale residential development in Hope Island, Athena Quays is among the last waterfront apartment projects of its kind to reach completion in the precinct.

The group is now preparing for its next major venture — a $2.5 billion project known as The Landmark, located at Mermaid Beach. Set to be the largest development on the Gold Coast since The Star Casino, construction is expected to commence in early 2025.
