Brisbane adds it’s 3rd laneway bar in one year

The laneway culture in Brisbane is exploding in popularity and Brisbane is set to have it’s 3rd CBD laneway bar in one year as the construction of a new bar located at 42 Burnett Lane is well underway. Currently, Brew the now highly successful laneway cafe and bar has been the only entry into the CBD laneway bar scene.

The new 42 Burnett Lane bar which has limited information available has been designed by Marc&Co.

Burnett Lane was subject to the Brisbane City Council’s Vibrant Laneways program which aimed at creating a laneway culture in an otherwise forgotten space. Initially the concept looked to have been unsuccessful at achieving it’s goals due to a lack of private sector support which is essencial in creating a laneway atmosphere with retail tenancies.

However gradually this laneway has seen private sector activity pick up with the construction of a new cafe/bar called ‘The Survey Company Bar and Bistro’ – which is a play on words of Burnett Lane, which was an original planning Surveyor of Brisbane. The owners of the Survey Company are the same owners of Piaf Bistro in Southbank.
