The countdown is on for the first release of Woolloongabba’s largest new urban centre – South City Square.

Pellicano and Perri Projects are set to launch the precinct’s first building, which will be located on the prominent corner of Logan Road and Deshon Street, with buyers who act now able to get priority information and selection when the first apartments are made available.

The first release is set to hit the market on April 18 with 118 architecturally designed apartments available from $345,000 to just $699,000.

The project has been designed by renowned architects DBI Design and comprises a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments with high-end finishes including European Oak timber floors, feature lighting, ducted air-conditioning, ILVE appliances and stone benchtops.

Pellicano Group QLD development manager Michael Kent says residents will enjoy sweeping vistas of the city through floor to ceiling windows, with balconies that act as a natural extension of the indoor living and dining spaces.

“The apartments will offer sweeping views of the CBD, The Gabba, South Bank, Moreton Bay, Mt Cootha and Brisbane’s southern and eastern suburbs,” he said.

“As this first building is located on the northern edge of the precinct, future stages in the masterplan can never interrupt these views.”

Residents will enjoy access to a unique residents’ club featuring a roof top amenities featuring a landscaped garden and entertainment area, complete with a pool, spa, residents’ lounge, barbeque, teppanyaki bar and dining areas.

Mr Kent says South City Square will be a new urban hub with residential apartment living and exciting new retail opportunities on offer, including supermarket, movie theatres, a childcare centre and a boutique hotel.

The precinct is focussed around a 5000sqm central urban square which represents approximately 25 per cent of the overall site.

“The first residential building seamlessly combines an activated ground floor, with street level retail spaces all within a living, breathing community,” Mr Kent said.

“South City Square is an inclusive development which will become an active, cultural hub centred around a square, which is approximately half a hectare in size.

“With its inviting layout, central green area and vibrant social spaces – South City Square has been designed to be so much more than a collection of apartment buildings.

“It is set to become a lifestyle destination for Brisbane with the provision of quality services and amenity for residents and the wider community”

Pellicano and Perri Projects have engaged a high powered team of respected consultants with international experience, including DBI, Woods Bagot – who are behind the masterplan and retail design – and Oculus – the team driving the urban design and landscape architecture.

With the estimated end value set to exceed $550 million, Mr Pellicano says the first residential release at South City Square marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Woolloongabba.

“Woolloongabba has been voted as one of Australia’s best suburbs to invest two years running in Your Investment Property’s annual suburb guide and has become a highly sought after suburb in Brisbane,” he said.

“South City Square is strategically located on a 2.1 hectare site within an important urban renewal area and as part of the Woolloongabba Centre Neighbourhood Plan, it will define the area as a residential centre, shopping destination and meeting place.”

The central location, just two kilometres from the CBD, puts South City Square within convenient reach of all of Brisbane’s major university campuses, major employment hubs including the Princess Alexandra and Mater hospitals, with easy access to public transport.

Pellicano is well established in Woolloongabba with Trafalgar Lane – located directly across the road from the Gabba sporting stadium – currently under construction, and Eastwood Apartments and Quest Woolloongabba which are both complete.

I don’t think timber floors are high-end. They usually smell a lot when new, make too much noise, and are a bit impractical. It is only a consumer perception that they are high-end. I think tile is more high-end than timber even though it costs less. It also means you don’t have to cut down any trees.
