Rooftop Recreation Decks Booming in Brisbane

In the last 12 months there has been a dramatic increase in developers making use of building rooftops.

Since August last year there has been 13 proposals with some level of rooftop amenity, proving that there is a growing trend to place amenity such as pools, bbq areas, outdoor seating areas, gardens, gyms and other amenity on top of buildings as opposed to below on the podium.

Brisbane’s year round warm climate makes rooftop decks very appealing for apartment buyers as seen in recent developments.

City views as well as cool breezes also make rooftop decks a desirable place for pools, as opposed to on the podium level where too much shade sometimes render pools too cold to actually use.

Bangkok, known for it’s palatial array of rooftop decks had experienced a boom in rooftop decks over the past decade, with a recent edition of Vertigo and Moon bar, 61 floors above the Banyan Tree.

Brisbane isn’t there yet but is nevertheless experiencing a big surge in rooftop decks.
