Californian electric vehicle company Tesla has submitted a DA for a new showroom located in the former Videopro tenancy in Homemaker Fortitude Valley.

In November Tesla commenced construction on two new supercharging stations between Brisbane and Sydney which would complete the east-coast supercharger network.

The company is now embarking to set up it’s third full-service Australian showroom in Brisbane.

All Tesla showrooms are company owned and employ a direct manufacturer-to-customer approach, which is a departure from the traditional third party dealer model.

According to the DA, Queensland has emerged as the next focal point of the company’s market growth and brand establishment strategy, with Fortitude Valley identified as an ideal, influential location for a flagship store to support the South-East Queensland region where there is currently limited brand and infrastructure presence.

The new two level Telsa facility will include:

  • Ground floor vehicle showroom and ancillary sales office
  • Delivery zone
  • Servicing zone
  • Customer lounge
  • Parts storage and hoist to level 1
  • Staff amenities
  • Existing lift providing access between the basement, ground level and level 1
  • Four 24 hour public use supercharging stations in the basement
  • A dedicated Tesla carwash bay in the basement

Level 1 will be partially occupied by the proposed Tesla tenancy, and will include:

  • Administrative offices
  • Staff amenities and recreation areas
  • Additional parts storage

According to industry sources, Queenslanders have so far been very cordial of Tesla vehicles with take up exceeding supply.

Proposed Operating Hours:

  • 7:00am to 6:00pm – Monday to Wednesday
  • 7:00am to 9:00pm – Thursdays
  • 7:00am to 6:00pm – Fridays
  • 9:00am to 5:00pm – Saturdays and Sundays

Tesla was founded in 2003, and was the first company in the world to build a fully electric vehicle in serial production. It has since remained the industry leader in EV (electric vehicle) technology and vehicle performance.

The overarching purpose of Tesla Motors is to help expedite the change from a ‘mine-and- burn’ hydrocarbon economy toward a solar electric economy. Its mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy, and it is leading a revolution to transform the automotive industry through zero emissions technology.

Interior design firm Geyer is undertaking the store fit-out. The DA number for this development is A004559916.

What is the first thing in this article that needs to be explained ? “east coast supercharger network”. There are 11 in this country – you can go between here and Melbourne. Broadly speaking, we should maintain a positive outlook.
