Arklife Unveils Two Major Brisbane Build-to-Rent Projects

Queensland-based build-to-rent operator Arklife has announced details of two new Brisbane projects that will add more than 350 apartments to the city’s undersupplied rental market.

Construction of the first project, Arklife Robertson Lane in Fortitude Valley’s James precinct, is almost complete with leasing set to commence soon.

Work is also under way on a second major development in South Brisbane, Arklife Cordelia, which Arklife says will set a new benchmark for sustainability in the fast-growing build-to-rent sector.

The first two Queensland Arklife communities will have a combined end value of more than $260 million and introduce an innovative approach to the delivery of exclusive resident amenities and services.

The 12-storey Arklife Robertson Lane community will provide 89 apartments in prime position between James Street and Howard Smith Wharves while Arklife Cordelia will feature 265 apartments at Cordelia Street in South Brisbane.

Arklife Managing Director Scott Ponton said the group’s unique model provided residents with a level of choice, flexibility and freedom not usually associated with renting.

“Arklife’s vision is to create vibrant communities that put our residents at the heart of everything we do,” said Mr Ponton.

“We are excited to be launching the leasing phase of Arklife Robertson Lane very shortly ahead of the project’s completion within the next few months,” he said.

In Brisbane’s tightening rental market and undersupply, Arklife says their communities would allow residents to rent directly from the owner and operator and aim to provide a superior level of service and amenity for residents.

Arklife Robertson Lane offers a range of one, two and three-bedroom furnished and unfurnished apartments for rent on Robertson Street in Fortitude Valley.

The community will feature multiple levels of resident amenity including a 400sqm full service gym with personal training staff, co-working space and private meeting rooms for residents to work-from-home, sky terrace and sundeck with pool overlooking the CBD, dog wash station, a laneway with retail tenants and more.

Tailored resident services and activities will include regular complimentary group fitness classes, community and networking events, onsite concierge and resident services team, dedicated takeaway food delivery bay and secure delivery lockers for parcels.

Arklife says their Cordelia building will incorporate state-of-the-art sustainable design principles, setting a new benchmark for residential rental accommodation and supporting Australia’s transition to a low carbon future.

It will also retain and refurbish a heritage building known as Astill & Freeman, which was constructed in the late 1800s as one of Brisbane’s first boot making factories.

Arklife Cordelia is the result of a collaboration between Qualitas, Australia’s leading real estate financier, Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and ADCO.
