Stockland has launched Ampére, a new all electric town home village within its Aura masterplanned community on the Sunshine Coast, and its first neighbourhood in Australia where homes are designed to achieve net zero energy. The idea is that residents can live more sustainably from the day they move in, rather than retrofitting solar and batteries later.

Located in Banya, Ampére brings together energy efficient homes, rooftop solar, battery storage and smart technology in a single package. Based on modelling of a typical household’s energy use, Stockland says the approach can cut both a home’s environmental footprint and its electricity bills.

Every town home in Ampére is designed with a solar and battery system sized to generate up to 120 per cent of the household’s energy needs, which Stockland describes as enough renewable energy to power an entire home across the year. On the developer’s modelling, that could reduce electricity costs by up to $2,000 a year and avoid up to four tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, depending on how each household uses energy.

The homes are designed to an 8 star energy rating, with smart orientation and efficient all electric systems intended to keep them cooler in summer and warmer in winter while using less energy day to day. As fully all electric homes, everyday essentials including cooking, hot water, heating and cooling can be run on renewable energy.

At Ampére, sustainability isn’t something residents need to navigate later. Homes are designed from the ground up to be all electric, with solar, battery storage and smart technology working together to help lower energy costs and make everyday living simpler.

Alongside solar and battery, each home features a smart home energy management system, a smart electrical meter, a digital water meter and an EV ready garage. Stockland says the goal is an integrated energy ecosystem that helps residents generate, store and intelligently manage their own energy.

Households will also receive a three year subscription to EnergyFlex, a platform that lets residents monitor and maximise their renewable energy use and choose the best electricity plan. EnergyFlex Chief Executive Garry Harding said the dynamic usage insights would help residents build smart energy habits from the outset.

It’s about creating a new standard where customers are not just purchasing an all electric home, they’re given the knowledge and tools to get the best out of it.

RACQ Solar is delivering the solar and battery systems for the precinct. Its Chief Executive Rob Chambers said designing the technology into the community from the start, rather than adding it later, was what set the project apart. The first release of homes will be built by Thompson Sustainable Homes and NuTrend Homes, with residents anticipated to move in from early 2027.

Ampére shows what’s possible when solar and battery technology is designed into a community from the ground up, rather than retrofitted later. Every home will be equipped to generate, store and use renewable energy efficiently, giving residents real protection against rising electricity costs while reducing their environmental impact.

Ampére sits along the Aura Brook in Banya, with direct access to Nirimba State Primary School and the Joy Early Learning childcare centre. Residents are promised walking trails, parkland and open space along the Aura Brook corridor, and the neighbourhood is less than two kilometres from the future Aura Town Centre and Aura Parklands, both currently under construction.

The wider Aura community is one of the largest masterplanned communities in Australia under single ownership. Spanning roughly 24 square kilometres around Banya at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, it is planned to grow to more than 20,000 homes and around 50,000 residents over the coming decades. Expressions of interest for Ampére are now open, and Stockland is running its Aura Display Village daily for buyers to speak with the two builder partners.
