Prominent Queensland property group Pradella has today announced the launch of a $125 million development featuring one of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks, Skyneedle.

Formerly owned by Stefan Ackerie, the heritage-listed Skyneedle will be refurbished as part of the development which will deliver more than 200 apartments across two towers.

The development also features a new pedestrian cross block link from Edmondstone to Manning Streets as well as a planned cafe, under the Skyneedle itself.

According to the developer, Pradella, the site is located one kilometre from the CBD, and offers convenient access to the city, Southbank and the much-hyped Queen’s Wharf casino development.

With start of construction slated for mid 2016, the pre-release of Skyneedle’s first stage, Tower-A, presents buyers with the unique opportunity to be among one of the first to purchase a slice of Brisbane’s rich history.

Stage one will deliver 110 one and two bedroom apartments across 11 levels and will feature landscaped tropical gardens and grassed terrace, outdoor pool and covered entertaining pavilions with communal barbeques.

The project’s design will reflect Skyneedle’s bold sculptural statement while ensuring its preservation into the future, signifying the melding of Brisbane’s past and future as the city continues its evolution towards New World City status.

Director Kim Pradella said that the acquisition of Skyneedle presented a truly unique urban renewal opportunity.

“We are privileged to have the opportunity to transform a Brisbane icon into a world-class residence that will attract buyers from Australia and beyond,” he said.

“We are committed to ensuring this landmark will be enjoyed by local residents for years to come and, as such, have made the deliberate decision to retain and refurbish the Skyneedle within the masterplan.

“Paramount to the design is the sculptural tower which will be the focal point of the new development and continue to stand tall in Brisbane’s evolving skyline.

“To live in the Skyneedle apartments will be truly unique. After all, not many people can lay claim to having an 88 metre high heritage-listed sculpture in their own backyard.”

One bedroom apartments will retail from $415,000 which includes car space while two-bedrooms will start at $545,000. Skyneedle Tower A apartments are available for pre-release and can be viewed at the sales display suite on 18 Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane.
