The Brisbane City Council’s determination to make Brisbane an international student education hub is gaining momentum with another student accomodation proposal for Toowong.

Located at 603-611 Coronation Drive, the new 17 storey Scape student accomodation tower by UK-based Scape is set to house 678 student rooms across four distinct room types, providing a choice of shared rooms, shared facility, and fully contained studios rooms.

International education is already Brisbane’s biggest export market with 75,000 international student enrolments from across 160 different countries.

The Scape Toowong facility has been designed to accomodate 700+ students at a time and includes a large rooftop recreation deck with outdoor kitchen, bbq areas and synthetic grassed areas.

At the ground level, the proposal provides an entry court from Coronation Drive and a small cafe at the north eastern corner of the site which aims to activate the street frontage and draw the public into the development.

A large planter with landscaping is provided at the Coronation Drive frontage to create a subtropical entrance statement to the building.

A large reception, communal area, kitchen / dining area, movie cinema, gym, laundry, office space, and bicycle store (for 350 bikes) is provided at the ground level.

A direct link to the Toowong Village is proposed at the ground level to connect to the adjacent pedestrian ramp.

Meanwhile construction has commenced on Scape’s other $95 million Brisbane student accomodation facility located at 190 Vulture Street, South Brisbane which will house around 787 beds and is anticipated to be completed by 2018.
