IHG Hotels & Resorts has recently finalised an agreement with Kokoda Property, marking the debut of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in Brisbane. The announcement today indicates IHG’s first foray into managed operations in the city, aiming to diversify Brisbane’s upscale accommodation offerings.

The forthcoming Kimpton hotel is slated to open its doors in 2028, positioning itself in Teneriffe, a lively suburb known for its trendy atmosphere and vibrant social scene. This partnership underscores IHG’s expansion efforts within Australia’s luxury hotel sector.

Expected to be a prominent feature of Kokoda Property’s $1.5 billion mixed-use development, the Kimpton hotel’s establishment is still subject to council approval, which it does not yet have, highlighting the project’s dependence on regulatory processes before proceeding further.

Cameron Burke, Director of Development, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed the brand’s anticipation, stating, “We couldn’t be more excited to bring our Kimpton brand to Brisbane, particularly in such a strategic location that perfectly aligns to the aspirational ethos of the brand.” Burke noted the brand’s global appeal among lifestyle-oriented guests, emphasising its potential resonance within Teneriffe’s dynamic community.

The Kimpton hotel is envisioned to offer approximately 155 distinctive rooms and suites, each meticulously designed to provide guests with a refined blend of comfort and style.

Mark Stevens, Founder and Managing Director of Kokoda Property, emphasised the brand’s lifestyle-centric positioning, stating, “The Kimpton brand was the ideal choice for, and will be the centrepiece of, our striking Teneriffe development.”

An integral component of the hotel’s allure is its waterfront location, boasting picturesque views of the Brisbane River. Guests can anticipate a range of amenities, including an infinity pool, a signature restaurant and bar on Level 14, and 618 square meters of event space. However, the realization of these offerings is contingent upon the approval and completion of the development project.

Teneriffe’s vibrant social landscape, characterised by trendy wine bars, restaurants, and artisanal venues, further accentuates the strategic choice of location for the Kimpton hotel. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to excellence while contributing to Brisbane’s evolution as a global luxury destination.

Founded in 1981, Kimpton® Hotels & Restaurants has established itself as a pioneer in the boutique hotel industry, renowned for its distinctive hospitality and design-forward ethos. With over 70 hotels and 85 dining establishments worldwide, Kimpton continues to set standards in relaxed luxury and personalized experiences.

With 14 operational hotels and five in the pipeline in Australia, IHG remains poised for continued growth and innovation, underscoring its dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences worldwide.
