Highlights
  • Four-level venue combining food, drink, gaming and events
  • Heritage features retained through a full interior redesign
  • Rooftop terrace with city and cultural precinct views
  • Ground-level public bar with bistro and bottle shop
  • Late-night cocktail lounge and two function spaces

The heritage-listed Fox Hotel in South Brisbane is set for a major transformation, with family-owned hospitality group Ghanem Group taking over the site and preparing to launch a multi-storey dining and entertainment destination.

Located on the corner of Melbourne Street and Fish Lane, the venue would reopen in late 2025 as a modern, multi-level precinct featuring multiple hospitality offerings under one roof.

The redesign and fit-out are being led by Space Cubed Design Studio, with a focus on preserving the building’s Art Deco features while introducing a collection of diverse hospitality experiences that reflect the venue’s layered history.

“This is our largest and one of our most exciting projects to date,” said Ghanem Group Director Adonis Ghanem. “The growing community of this area has long-awaited the return of this legendary venue, and to have the opportunity to bring the next era of dining and entertainment to this iconic site is a true honour.”

Patrons will access the reimagined Fox via a new entry point on Fish Lane. Inside, each level of the building will be tailored to offer distinct experiences, including:

  • A public bar with bistro dining
  • Gaming lounge with adjacent bottle shop
  • Two dedicated function spaces
  • A rooftop terrace offering panoramic views
  • A high-end cocktail lounge targeting the late-night crowd

About the Ghanem Group

Founded in 2006 with the opening of Byblós in Brisbane, the Ghanem Group is operated by brothers Adonis and Nehme Ghanem, whose family’s hospitality history dates back to 1978. Their existing Brisbane venues include Blackbird Bar, Dining & Events, Bisou Bisou, Boom Boom Room, Donna Chang, Iris Rooftop, and Lúc Lắc. The group also operates the Commercial Hotel Boonah and venues in Melbourne such as Byblós and Le Bon Ton.

With a growing presence across Queensland and Victoria, the Ghanem Group continues to expand its portfolio, which includes a range of cuisines from Lebanese and French to Vietnamese-Thai.

The redevelopment of The Fox Hotel adds a major new destination to Brisbane’s rapidly evolving Fish Lane precinct, already known for its mix of arts, dining, and nightlife.
