A previous application for a tall slender tower located at 466 Ann Street has been superseded by a new development application for a 25 storey residential tower.
Proposed by Perry Lane Jv Pty Ltd, the new design features a completely reconfigured floor plate design which reduces apartments from two apartments per level, to one apartment per level.
As a result of the floor plate change, the development will have a reduction of the total number of apartments from 66 in the previously approved application to now 19 apartments.
Known in the development application as ‘Perry Lane Apartments’, the typical floor-plates are viewed as boutique stacked homes or ‘Skyhomes’ and are orientated into two components, separated by a green atrium.
“This design allows the opening up the internal area of the apartments by employing large glazing elements maximises the opportunities for natural light, cross ventilation, and visual ‘escape’ from the surrounding urban fabric.
The apartments are planned following the typology of stacked courtyard homes, providing multiple outdoor spaces and resulting in all habitable rooms being able to be completely opened up to the outdoors. Designed by Bureau Proberts, the proposal retains the public cross block link between Perry Lane and Ann Street which varies in height between a two and three storey void.
According to Bureau Proberts, the height of the cross block link changes to provide an “intriguing sequence” entering the site from both road access points. The voids are broken by planters and artistic features to ensure that the linking passage is not only safe and well lit but also aesthetically interesting and inviting.
The development includes a ground level retail tenancy as well as car lift for residential parking levels on levels 2 to 5.
