Construction has commenced on Callista on Park, the final stage of the $1.2 billion West Village precinct in Brisbane’s West End. The 14-storey tower marks the conclusion of the decade-long redevelopment of the historic Peters Ice Cream factory site, which has been transformed into a mixed-use community combining housing, retail, dining, cultural facilities and public green space.
Callista on Park will deliver 96 apartments ranging from two to four bedrooms, including a limited number of penthouses. According to developer Sekisui House Australia, this final release represents the last opportunity to purchase within the award-winning precinct, which has delivered more than 35 retail, dining and health operators alongside its residential and commercial offerings. West Village Project Director Taku Hashimoto said the milestone reflected the culmination of one of Brisbane’s most significant inner-city projects.
“Callista on Park is the last-ever instalment of West Village’s masterplan that has breathed new life into this heritage precinct, providing new green spaces, residential buildings, and cultural and commercial spaces alongside more than 35 retail, dining and health operators,” Mr Hashimoto said.

“As the final premium residential offering in the precinct, Callista on Park will continue to deliver homes of the highest quality finishes, bespoke design detail, and spacious indoor and outdoor areas, perfectly suited to Brisbane’s sub-tropical lifestyle with access to amazing amenities on the doorstep.”
Construction is being delivered by Hutchinson Builders, who have worked on every stage of West Village since 2015. Chairman Scott Hutchinson said the company’s connection to both West End and the Peters site stretches back much further. “Hutchies has been part of the suburb of West End since the 1920s when we had our original yard on Montague Road,’’ Mr Hutchinson said.
“We’ve also had a long history with the West Village site, having worked on the original Peters Ice Cream building in 1943 and since 2015, we’ve built every stage of the new precinct, including the refurbishment of the ice cream factory. It’s a bit surreal to be starting this final stage. The whole Hutchies’ team is very proud to have played a part in such an iconic mixed-use precinct that is close to our hearts.”

The new tower has been designed by architecture studio Rothelowman, featuring sculptural forms and generous balconies oriented towards the north and east to capture city views and natural light. Residences have been planned with large indoor-outdoor living spaces to suit Brisbane’s climate. A key feature is the rooftop conservatory, which will integrate wildflower gardens and undulating grassed areas.
The landscaped rooftop will also include recreational amenities such as an infinity pool, spa, barbeque areas, a resident lounge and a private dining room with a chef’s kitchen. The first release features larger three and four-bedroom apartments, responding to demand for house-sized residences in inner Brisbane. Prices start from $2.4 million, with penthouses priced at around $9 million for 349sqm of internal space.

Callista on Park, located adjacent to Mollison Park, completes the West Village masterplan. On completion, the precinct will include close to 1,000 apartments across eight towers, two townhouses, the Greenhouse commercial building, and the restored Peters Ice Cream factories, which now accommodate retail, dining, and health operators. Over the past decade, West Village has earned 59 national and local awards across design, heritage and sustainability categories. The precinct has become both a residential address and a popular destination in its own right, with a walk score of 99 out of 100 and direct connections to the Brisbane CBD and South Bank. Mr Hashimoto said West Village had evolved significantly during this time.
“West Village has become an energetic inner-city neighbourhood, and a retail, dining and cultural destination in its own right,” he said. “It is fitting that this final stage connects with, and embodies, our values of community, sustainability and design-driven amenity to elevate people’s experience of where they live. There will never be another opportunity like it at West Village.”

With work now underway, construction of Callista on Park is scheduled to be completed in late 2027. A display suite has been opened on-site in collaboration between Sekisui House and Rothelowman. Situated just 800 metres from the Brisbane CBD, West Village is located close to schools, universities, hospitals and cultural destinations, with the River Walk linking the precinct directly to South Bank parklands.
Sekisui House, founded in Osaka in 1960, is one of the world’s largest homebuilders with more than 2.6 million homes delivered globally. Since establishing an Australian presence in 2009, the company has delivered over 13,000 properties across masterplanned communities, high-density housing and mixed-use developments, with a total project value exceeding $17 billion.
The company places an emphasis on sustainability and community-focused development. Globally, Sekisui House has delivered more than 80,000 net-zero-energy homes since 2013. In Brisbane, West Village has become its flagship project, setting a benchmark for large-scale urban renewal.
