A change application has been submitted by Unison Projects for the approved multi-residential development at 51-53 Bramston Terrace and 7 Weightman Street, Herston. The project, designed by Ellivo Architects, maintains its contemporary design approach, with façade articulation and material diversity enhancing its connection to the streetscape. The modifications align with Brisbane City Council’s “Buildings that Breathe” guidelines, ensuring a subtropical design that prioritises natural light, airflow, and outdoor space.

The most significant changes include:

  • Increase in apartments: The unit count has risen from 38 to 45, adding seven new residences.
  • Height adjustment: The development now reaches 7 to 8 storeys, increasing by 3.6 metres.
  • Rooftop and communal space refinements: The rooftop recreation area still includes a pool, barbecue area, gym, and landscaped gardens, but the layout has been refined for improved usability.
  • Waste and recycling management: The development retains its waste and recycling chute with a diverter, ensuring efficient refuse disposal.

Unison Projects, a private property development firm with over 20 years of experience across various property sectors, has established a reputation for delivering high-quality residential and mixed-use developments in Queensland and New South Wales. Founded by billionaire John Van Lieshout, known for establishing the Super A-Mart furniture chain, Unison Projects continues to contribute significantly to urban development.

Notable Projects:

  • Seacliffs Byron Bay: A $20 million eco-friendly development in Suffolk Park, featuring 34 elevated lots within a 16-hectare estate, with 13 hectares preserved as untouched or revegetated rainforest.
  • Bank & Mollison, West End: A proposed residential-led, mixed-use development comprising 101 apartments across a stepped tower rising 10 to 18 storeys, designed by Rothelowman. The project emphasizes high-quality architectural and landscape design, aligning with Brisbane’s subtropical climate and lifestyle.
  • Maud Street, Newstead: Unison Projects acquired a site at 14 Maud Street with existing development approval and has since revised plans to reduce the number of apartments, focusing on larger, high-quality residential units.
