Cavcorp has submitted a development application to build stage 2 of the Le Bain development, which consists of a new 15 storey residential building known as ‘Italian Club’.
Located at 10-20 Wyandra Street, Newstead, the development application supersedes a commercial scheme which they previously lodged.
According to the development application the proposed building pays homage to the historic ANFE Italian Club which is relocating after supporting the Brisbane community since 1962.
Designed by Cavcorp’s internal architect team, the development includes three ground floor retail tenancies, one of which is a large space for a retail / restaurant or office as well as a cross block link from Wyatt to Wyandra Street.
The proposal includes a distinctive 81.2 by 15 metre high green wall by Florafelt vertical garden systems which is planning to include 12,000 plants that will capture 29.9 tons of carbon dioxide and produce 3.155 million litres of oxygen per year.
On the rooftop, a large 25-metre training pool with three Olympic dedicated swimming lanes is planned and oriented for all day sun.
Three temperature controlled magnesium spas are also proposed as a tiered spa area surrounded by high quality landscaping.
Along with a vegetable garden, a palm tree garden, outdoor gym, bbq, yoga lawn and lounge and dining room are also proposed for the rooftop level.
The proposed rooftop communal open space includes a series of areas that are open to the sky, shaded by subtropical shade trees and pergola structures supporting functionality and useability. Landscaping is provided to the perimeter of the roof terrace and throughout including a combination of lush plantings and mature subtropical shade trees including 14 x Livistona palms. – Cavcorp.

Typical of what’s being built in the inner city with too much density. Areas flooded with retail space, too many eatery’s and restaurants. Streets become wind canyons with no light yet the architects claim them as environmentally friendly. Large rooftop swimming pools will be a maintenance nightmare for body corporates in future years. The marketing spin is cleverly enough to convince the buyers though.
Another spectacular development by Cavcorp. The design is stunning. Another great addition to Newstead.
Absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to see this one come to fruition. Very impressed with Cavcorp’s architectural team, they are setting the standards high in Newstead!!
So where is the new ANFE Club going to be located?
I hope they have a substantial traffic plan on this – the amount of congestion on these roads in crazy. Major upgrades would be needed
Not content with turning the Gasworks area into a windy, dark, high rise wasteland, BCC are intent on seeing the blight spread to Commercial Road. This dev relies on the dubious precedent of the relaxation of height rules for neighbouring LeBain. No other building nearby, existing or approved, is of a similar height. This must be stopped before Newstead becomes a sunless highrise slum for well heeled transients.
Not content with turning the Festival Place/Longland Street/Skyring area into a cramped high rise slum. The “Schrinner Council” is set to permit this blight to spread across the area if this project is allowed. The bulk of this project is NOT within 50m of Commercial Road and thus arguably contravenes the neighbourhood plan height limit. LeBain trashed the height limits and now it is being used as a “precedent”. And so it goes on . . . .
I life Cavcorp’s work. What I don’t like is the Newstead cramp. Along with Mirvac they have destroyed what could have been.
When is it going to be finished?
It’s June 2024 and the yellow and orange dudes are making so much noise (when they’re not protesting at CMFEU).
Anyway, looks like it will be nice when it’s complete.
