Abcor Property Trust has lodged a DA for an 18 level commercial tower situated at 47 – 49 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane.

According to the DA submission:

The 47-49 Cordelia Street, South Brisbane development is an 18 Storey Commercial tower that is intended to be a building of its time which responds to the site constraints and opportunities, climate and the requirements of a contemporary workplace environment.

The response acknowledges the developments proximity to the CBD, Southbank, South Brisbane, West End and the Cultural Precinct at Kurilpa.

This contemporary development encourages connections in and around the site and provides significant amenity for users of the building as well as the general public, while creating a sustainable building that is a unique and vibrant addition to emerging urbanization of the South Brisbane Precinct.

Development Facts:

  • The 1828 sqm site is made up of two amalgamated sites
  • The tower has a total NLA of 17,568 sqm
  • 198 carparks across four basement levels
  • Ground floor retail tenancy
  • Includes rooftop terrace
  • Height is 72.6m above Ground Floor
  • Targeting a 5 star green star rating
  • DA number: A003409491

The tower has been designed by architectural firm McVeigh and includes a cross block link to Manning Street.

Update:

The proposal has not been given approval by the Brisbane City Council and is rumoured not to be proceeding.

    Really?? Are the banks going to finance this in the city-fringe when there is so much Agrade available in the CBD and Bowen Hills is coming?
    The numbers dont stack up for me.
    I give it very slim odds of ever seeing the light of day as a commercial-only project.

    PS that laneway idea although commendable is on the wrong side of the site to be of any use to anyone.
    Shift it and align better with the SW1 throughway. Plus give people a reason to use it, exploit the incredibly wide yet quite Manning Street.

    No. Not a nice design at all. Every balcony looks like a cage. Could be made far more attractive if the balconies were open and not like a prison.
