A development application has been submitted by Wickham Hill Pty Ltd for a 15-storey short-term accomodation and hotel tower located at 309 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill.
The building would comprise of 92 short-term accommodation suites, of which, 80 contain 1-bedroom and the remaining 12 will have 2-bedrooms.
In addition to the hotel rooms, the proposal incorporates a café/bar, function rooms, gym, spa, pool and numerous recreational areas throughout the building.
The architects, Rothelowman have designed a distinctive form, featuring arches and a material palette that reflects the heritage identity of Wickham Terrace, drawing inspiration from Athol Place, Craigston and Spring Hill Reservoir.
The proposal will contribute significantly towards the visual amenity of the streetscape and skyline of Brisbane. The combination of active uses on the lower floor levels will also create a vibrant and lively streetscape environment, whilst promoting casual surveillance of the adjoining public open space areas.

According to the application, the lower levels of the building provide a bold entry statement and include active use areas of the hotel, which include a café, bar, concierge, gardens, function room and cantilevered outdoor terrace.
Located on level two of the development, a 121m² gym and wellness room is planned including a sauna and spa. A function room and outdoor terrace is also designed within the level 2 recreation level.
The rooftop of the building would feature a function and dining room, pool and garden terrace, bbq area and outdoor seating areas.

The potential for Wickham Terrace and the surrounding area to evolve into a unique precinct of Brisbane has been impaired by a lack a streetscape / parkland activation and active uses. There is a pressing need to activate WickhamTerrace and Wickham Park, create additional casual surveillance of public spaces, and reinvest in quality architecture within the locality.
The development fulfils this pressing need and realises the potential of a location that displays unique heritage values, is centrally located, highly accessible by public transport and a leisurely stroll to Roma Street Parklands and the Queen Street Mall.

Looks great, I like this style that has been popping up in different iterations around Brisbane. Not dissimilar to the civic style of James St.

Would have preferred they knock down the ugly Soho Motel rather than the lovely 1940s apartment building to build this.
